Visionary Designer, Architect
As Chairman of Group 70, Francis Oda is respected as a visionary designer, recognized nationally and internationally with over 50 design awards for his work in architecture and planning. His projects, locally and abroad, are designed with uncompromising sensitivity to the land, culture, and people that it serves. His award-winning projects include the Four Seasons Lodge at Koele, the Four Seasons Manele Bay Hotel, Hanauma Bay Nature Center, Lodge at Keole, the Manele Bay Hotel, the City of Kapolei and the Master Plan of Mauna Kea. In 2014 he was honored by Pacific Business News as Hawaii Business Leader of the Year. Francis received the Gordon Bradley Humanitarian Award and was inducted into the Hawaii Business Hall of Fame.
Trained at Cornell University, Dr. Oda received his Doctor of Architecture degree from the University of Hawai‘i. He is an Adjunct Associate Professor of the UH School of Architecture and a Distinguished Alumnus of the University where he developed the Doctor of Architecture program.
Francis is Board Chair of New Life Church Honolulu and serves as Global Chair of Transform Our World. He is married to Caroline and has two children, Reid and Nalani.
